Frame head repairs before the covering boards can go back on. All wooden boats have problems around the frame heads.
There is a lot of refastening to do around the beam shelf using copper rod and bronze screws.
The covering boards slowly move forward, section by section, scarfed together.
FRAMES AND RIBS
Work starts on what will turn out to be a very long job, replacing damaged frames and ribs. The steam bent ribs were elm and have been replaced with green oak from a tree cut down for the job. The ribs are fastened with traditional square cut copper boat nails.
The sawn frames are replaced with laminated white oak bonded with resorcinol.
